Since the beginning of the war in Gaza I’ve been watching Israeli television, usually a show on Channel 14 there, which is a right-wing alternative to Israel’s hard-left media monoculture. The show is called HaPatriotim, The Patriots, yet another borrow word from English that disturbs the flow of me trying to think in Hebrew. It’s a panel discussion with regulars from the nationalist Israeli commentariat, with a studio audience. There’s a lot of screaming, even when they agree. It’s a very Israeli show.
